Biodielectrics are dielectrics originating or derived from, or inspired by living systems. In this time when we face the challenge of sustainability of materials and their sources, biodielectrics can play a crucial role as alternative materials for sensor and actuator applications, especially in the fields of soft robotics, wearable computing, flexible electronics, and biologically inspired devices. In this work, we present an overview of this class of materials which has recently gained huge attraction from many sensors and actuation applications.
