This report presents the results from the national survey into the implementation of Social Personal and Health Education (SPHE) in second level schools since its introduction in 2000. The report was commissioned by the management team for the implementation of SPHE at Junior Cycle. This management team comprises of a partnership between the Department of Health and Children and the Department of Education and Science. The report outlines the views of principals, teachers/coordinators of SPHE and those not involved in the teaching of SPHE. The main areas explored were provision of SPHE within schools, teacher selection, the support service, implementation issues and content relevance.
