Abstract
For over 10 years between 1997 and 2007, Ireland’s so-called Celtic Tiger economy was characterized by unprecedented economic development allied with significant social and cultural change.1 For example, based on a globalization index, “Ireland was ranked number one in both 2002 and 2003 as the most globally integrated economy in the world” (Fitzpatrick & Conway, 2005).2
