The framing of Covid-19: A qualitative analysis of Op-Ed pages

In content construction, media use specific frames in presenting information to its audience. The core focus of this study is to investigate the frames used by newspapers on their Op-Ed pages while covering Covid-19. Qualitative content analysis approach is deployed to analyze the 491 Op-Ed pieces collected from three newspapers; however, frequency of articles has also been presented in this paper. Coronavirus captures the world, and the role of media is considered to be very important. How media frame the coronavirus? Data is coded by applying Open Coding and Axial Coding procedures. Two major frames a) Socio-Economic Frames and b) Psychological Frames, emerged from the data.
