Dr. Sorcha de Brún is lecturer in the School of Irish, English and Communication in the University of Limerick, where she lectures on contemporary Irish film, prose writing and poetry. She was Course Director of European Studies from 2021-2023. She has a BA in Irish and Politics (UCD), an MA in Politics (UCD), an MA in Irish (DCU), a PhD (Ulster University), a DipABRSM in Organ Performance (Ass. Board Royal Schools of Music, London) an LTCL (Trinity College London). She also holds a Grad. Dip. in Teaching, Learning and Scholarship. She was a John and Pat Hume Scholarship awardee in Maynooth University 2007-2010 for academic PhD research. She has been the recipient of literary awards Oireachtas na Gaeilge, the Máirtín Ó Cadhain Short Story Award, and the Listowel Writer's Week Foras na Gaeilge award for creative fiction. She was named as a Teaching Hero in 2021 by the Union of Students in Ireland and the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education.
